Enjoy stunning bistro-style fare off Grub & Vine’s regularly changing seasonal menu.
According to Chef Patron Matt Manning, they serve “No-nonsense, good grub. Beautiful produce and honest cooking”.
All lunch menu items are available ala carte and can be ordered as either a starter or a main, so you can build your own little sharing and tasting menu to get a good cross-section.
Off the lunch menu, you must try the char-grilled broccoli, with fresh pear, forest phantom cheese, pommery mustard and sunflower seeds then top it off with a slice of blackberry almond cake, served with honey custard and honeycomb.
Dinner works off the same menu but is a fancier affair with courses and wine pairings.
Grub and Vine is situated on the uber-trendy Bree street, nice and central, smack bang in the middle of the action.
This venue is simply beautiful, with the right dash of plush mixed with simple surfaces and intricate patterns. The couches are deep and welcoming, and the setting requires decanters and leather bound books :-)
Looking at the menu items to share, the charred aubergine in a black garlic emulsion with delicious sweet potato crisps, mint and pine nuts is sublime.
Also on that menu you will find fire-roasted baby gem lettuce with parmesan, white anchovy, capers and a lemon vinaigrette, sheer genius!
By the glass, you would not go amiss with a dry and unwooded, medium bodied Raats Original Chenin Blanc.
Look your best, take lots of pics, of yourself, the decor and of course, the food!
When you mix up a South African brewer and a pair gesticulating Italians and throw them in a Victorian House at the foot of Table Mountain, you are bound to create something pretty amazing, presenting: Unfiltered.
With a huge array of great beers on tap, including their fantastic Saggy Stone and Rosebank ranges they also serve up a killer sugar free Amamdalia gin and tonic.
On the menu, don’t skip the mozzarella balls, they might sound simple but they are awesome. Bocconcini balls, deep fried and served with a homemade tomato chutney. Sticking with the vegetarian theme, have a brilliant Taco as a main, with barbecue-roasted chickpeas, cauliflower, black bean and corn salsa, guacamole and kimchi.
Beer, Tacos, Pizza and atmosphere, this place has it all :-)
