If you have more of an ilk for sciencey stuff, this is the place for you. The entire facility was designed to make science and math palpable and fun, accessible and interesting.
There are a plethora of activities and engaging displays, covering fields as diverse as colour chromatography, lasers, kaleidoscopes, flowers, telescopes and wind tunnels. The adults will learn a thing or two along the way, no doubt.
They have a full list of bookable activities to view on their website, this one is well worth a visit, it supports learning and scientific rigour across all ages, genders and classes.
A venue equipped for both young and old, with plenty of activities for them and everyone in between! There are non-stop games and adventures, activities and obstacles to tire them out and leave them feeling like a day well spent!
They boast a 450 square metre 3-dimensional maze, an extreme high line ropes course and a kiddies mini maze in an innovative space incorporating educational play.
As an adult you can enjoy the Hint Hunt which is an escape-room type activity.
Please bear in mind that while there are people to help keep an eye on things, minding your child is your responsibility at all times :-)
It’s carnival time! Escape to the magical Weltevreden estate and get caught up in the joy of celebration.
This kids carnival has a full complement of activities, a full “bar”, a build-a-pizza area, confectionery counter, beautiful natural surroundings, two trampolines and two immense jungle gyms. Open only in the holidays, the facilities are teaming with children, having fun and making friends.
While the kids play to their hearts content, you can relax in the nearby restaurant (with a view over the play area) and enjoy a lovely crisp chardonnay with a bite to eat.
A great day in the beautiful mountainous winelands, all the fresh air will ensure snores from the back seat on the drive home.
Outside of Stellenbosch (and easily connected to any other ay-trips you may take to the area) you will find a tranquil oasis that is the stuff of dreams (for kids and grown-ups both). A fantastic array of little biomes for you to explore, containing butterflies, iguanas, birds, reptiles and spiders (don’t worry, the creepy ones are behind glass).
The fine mist of the humidifiers makes the interior feel like a scene from Jurassic Park, with explosions of iridescent colours heralding the beautiful butterflies showing off.
The Fluttterby Tea Garden serves lovely snacks and the restaurant next door (Villa Visaggio’s) is fully licensed with a great menu. Not to mention you are in the middle of the winelands!
Kids will often be willing to help in the kitchen, but you may be more concerned with the mess they make than the benefits of what they may learn to allow them to participate.
Tots n Pots makes this very easy for you, they allow kids to experience the working of a kitchen and the skills associated with that (such as fine motor development, speech development, perceptual skills, bilateral integration and sequencing skills).
Look out for the Holiday Club specials, there are a lot of themed days and entertainment for the long holidays (for both grown-ups and kids). Lots of fun with mixing, weighing, mashing, pouring and stirring together awesome recipes to enjoy (and replicate later at home).
Now for an excellent little adventure for the kids, they will absolutely love this!
A testimony to the fantastic work of the Sea Point Rotary Club, who have kept this venue alive, and more recently, refurbished.
