We have covered the beloved “Nellie” (or the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel as it’s more formally known as) in the past, but we must return to write about the delightful Easter celebration they are planning this year in its magnificently grand interiors and beautiful garden settings.
This year they will be hosting a Sunday lunch buffet and two Easter-themed afternoon teas with a focus on the little ones.
The Oasis Bistro will be serving many Easter classics, including hot cross buns, leg of lamb, speckled eggs, roasted vegetables, a delicious cheese trolley, mezze platter, salads and an assortment of desserts.
The afternoon teas will focus on more bite-sized treats such as petits fours (including birds nest chocolate cupcakes with speckled eggs), cakes, macarons, empanadas and tiny sandwiches.
Let your kids run wild and enjoy the finery this Easter!
Simonsvlei in Paarl provides the perfect setting for a family Easter lunch with mountain views, rolling lawns shaded by ancient oak trees and an enclosed safe play park for the kids.
The menu is simple yet super tasty, starting with a traditional pickled fish dish and moving on to the main course, which will be a buffet, offering delectable morsels such as, roast leg of lamb with mint jelly, chicken pie, roast potatoes, ginger glazed baby carrots, green beans with bacon and homemade gravy. For dessert you can look forward to their delicious hot cross bun bread and butter pudding (outstanding!).
Head over to Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch for an amazing Easter Extravaganza. The bakery is always bustling, and the interior is a festive experience waiting to happen. The outdoor deck area offers relaxed seating and unparalleled views over the lake and valley.
There will be an Easter Chef’s table feast to enjoy which includes delicious items such as loaded sourdough (freshly baked sourdough rolls filled with crème fraiche, bacon, cheddar & spring onions). Mezze style platters filled with: marinated feta, Jordan Estate olives, peppadew marmalade, pickled onions, roasted brinjal and tomatoes. Also, fish coujons, mini sliders (pulled pork and roasted lamb), baby squid and chorizo and chicken skewers.
There will be Easter egg painting activities included for the kids as well as plenty of space to run around and burn off some of that festive energy.
