With the Christmas hubris behind us and a New Years eve to look forward to, we thought we’d take a look at a couple of pampering and adventure activities to prep you for the long party into 2017.
Don’t worry, there won’t be a headless horseback rider and Ichabod Crane to contend with when you indulge in this idyllic experience of horseback riding the length of the aptly named Long Beach in Noordehoek. Along the way you will take in indigenous fynbos and beautiful beaches, as well as a famous shipwreck (the “Kakopo”, which ran aground on Long Beach in May 1900 en route from New Zealand to Cape Town, mistaking Chapman’s Peak for Cape Point in poor visibility). Groups are no larger than 6, and you can request to ride at whatever pace suits you. The instructors are all South African National Equestrian Federation (SANEF) qualified and the horses are in brilliant condition, loving their seaside gig. As a healthier, breath-of-fresh-air adventurous option, you can’t go wrong with surf and steed.
